School lunches

The numbers having lunch at school are beginning to increase and the catering staff are keen to ask you and the children if there are dishes that they would prefer as it may be possible to include them in a wider choice on the menu. The school is very strictly regulated over fresh food, nutritional values, amounts of salt, zinc etc. but if we can give a wider choice that would be good. One change from next Monday is that jacket potatoes will be a choice every day with a variety of fillings, veg and fresh salad. We hope that this will be popular and will be asking for more ideas soon.

Parents’ Evening – invitations

Class teachers will be contacting parents direct who they would like to see to discuss their children’s progress. Appointments will take place between 3.30 and 6.30 p.m. on Thursday 11th Feb. If you have no major concerns about your child’s progress then there is no need to book an appointment. If you feel that you would like to see your child’s teacher then complete the slip at the bottom of this letter and return it to them. They will then fit you as near to the time you requested.

Mr. Fisher and Mr. Lockley are both involved in organising the cross country event that evening so their appointment times will only be between 5 p.m. and 6.30 p.m. – though they will of course be happy to see parents on alternative days if their appointment times are fully booked.

PTFA

Thanks to a number of PTFA volunteers for clearing out the garage at school on a freezing cold afternoon this week. Much appreciated!

Parental volunteers

As we approach the half way point in the school year it is a good time to thank the whole army of volunteers who turn up week in-week out to help in school. Those who have walked to swimming in wind, rain and snow; those who have helped with guided reading, cooking, library, music, and all the other myriad of activities that could not take place without help. Thank you – and please keep doing it!

Mid term break and inservice day.

School will be closed to pupils from 3.10/15 p.m. on Thursday 11th Feb through until 8.50 a.m. on Monday 22nd Feb. 12th Feb is a training day for staff in school.

Sponsored event

We are hoping to organise a special sponsored event for all the children in early March and to link this with a non-uniform fun day. The date we are aiming for is 5th March – more details next week.
