Dear Parents
In the election for Parent Governor last Friday Eve Buchanan was elected; she will serve on the School's Governing Body for four years. Congratulations to her and thanks to the other candidates for standing.
Those of you who read your list of dates sent out in the first week of the term will have expected Open Morning yesterday. Unfortunately, with all the other activities lately it was forgotten. Apologies to those who made arrangements to attend. We have rearranged the date to next Tuesday (20th November) from 9 a.m. - 11.30 a.m. when you are warmly invited to come into school to see mainly Literacy and Numeracy lessons in action. Timetables for each class are on the noticeboard in the entrance hall for you to plan which lesson you would like to see. Clearly, open morning is a time for you simply to observe, as the staff will all be totally involved with the children and there will not be an opportunity to discuss any matters with them at that time. A question sheet will be available for you to fill in during your visit to see if you have any questions and to ask for your comments.
A reminder that there will be a non-uniform day this Friday with all the funds raised going to the BBC Children in Need Appeal. There will also be a small cake sale organised by the children. As usual, the children will be 'fined' 50p for not wearing uniform - this is of course, voluntary.
Mrs. Bennett and Mrs. Evans will be holding their postponed Parents' Evening on Thursday 22nd November between 3.30 and 6.30 p.m. Parents are invited to drop in without appointments to discuss how the children have settled in during the first half term of this academic year.
Cross country awards need to be ordered and paid for by Wednesday 21st November.
If you like sewing and would like to help once a week up until Christmas in a Year 2 class, we need you! Every Monday from 1 - 3 p.m. the children will be sewing and decorating hand puppets. Volunteers, please contact the office.
PTFA News. The fete draws nearer , 30th November 6 - 8 p.m. The PTFA is hoping to commission some play huts and larger garden structures for the children to play in at breaktimes, one of which could also be used for outdoor lessons from time-to-time. So this is their latest aim for the funds which they hope you will help them raise at the Fete; the structures could be built early in the New Year. Therefore, they need gifts for the raffle, tombola, bottles, cans, packets etc. as well as toys and books ? and cakes nearer the time. As usual, there will be several private stalls selling Christmas presents and crafts and of course, Father Christmas will be dropping in to hear from the children.
Holy Trinity Church has asked me to pass on details of their 'Christmas Cracker' event on Saturday 1st December from 10 ? 2 p.m. for children in Years Reception - Year 6. There will be Christmas crafts to make, games, quizzes, a Christmas DVD (popcorn included!) and loads of fun; £2 per child for the session. Parents - it will be a great opportunity for you to do some Christmas shopping! Places limited - contact Lynn Satchell 01684 292797and lynn@trinitytewkesbury.org.uk.
Mad Science Club started last week and will run for 6 weeks. The group will send letters home soon advertising a repeat club in January - February for anyone who missed this term's sessions. A new session for all is likely to start in late February and they will again send letters home.
Yours sincerely
A.W.Holt.
